Meet the founder

Benoit De Bock

Benoit is the heart and soul of Pirts Spirit, infusing his enthusiasm and high energy into every aspect of his work. His mission is to connect people with the healing power of natural treatments, helping them achieve balance in body, mind, and spirit

After completing his studies in civil engineering in 2011, Benoit worked as a project manager, building bridges across Europe for five years. During this time, he experienced his first Aufguss, a transformational moment that sparked his commitment to the art of sauna practices. He subsequently trained in Aufguss, participating in four World Championships and various national and international competitions, achieving a 4th place in the team category at the 2015 Aufguss WM.

Benoit deepened his knowledge in essential oils, waving techniques, peelings, herbs, and plants, and became an official Loylymaster trainer for Aromen. He also began consulting with wellness centers to improve their ritual programs, including spending two years working with a spa in Canada.

In 2015, attending a Pirts Festival opened Benoit's eyes to the art of working with nature and steam in bathhouses, particularly the Latvian Pirts, which truly captured his heart. This experience ignited the true Pirts Spirit in him, leading to continuous visits to Latvia to further explore and embrace the tradition. His deep connection with Latvian culture and traditions inspired him to share his knowledge with the world.

With his knowledge and experience, Benoit took on the role of Wellness Manager at the historic Tamina Therme in Switzerland, the oldest thermal bath in Europe. There, he built an innovative Latvian Pirts and educated the entire team on conducting group rituals and treatments in the Pirts sauna, bringing the transformative experience of Latvian traditions to a broader audience. He also integrated a 100% natural ritual philosophy, using and offering only natural products to guests.

Pirts Spirit was created during this time, and since 2020, Benoit has dedicated himself entirely to his company, growing it every day with love, light and steam 🌿
